PLAN CHECKS

Prior to granting approval and/or issuing building permits, most projects will go through the plan check process. Initially, construction plans must be submitted to the Building & Safety Division to be processed for plan check. Unless requested otherwise, applicants typically submit three (3) sets of construction plans. The plans will be reviewed by various departments and division including Building & Safety, Planning, Public Works/ Engineering, and Fire Departments in order to ensure that all projects are in compliance with codes. The turn around time for a plan check normally takes two (2) to three (3) weeks.

The Planning Department requests that plans/drawings submitted for plan check show all new and existing structures on the site. The following must be shown/specified on the plan(s):

  1. north arrow,

  2. setbacks,

  3. dimensions of existing and proposed areas,

  4. land use statistics,

  5. elevation(s),

  6. building height,

  7. proposed material(s), and

  8. roof plan .

  9. All plans must be drawn to scale.
