THE
POSITION
Reserve Police Officers perform non-paid, “at will,” duties within
the Police Department. City pays $50.00 per month Uniform
Maintenance Allowance. Occasional paid details are available.
The Reserve Police Officer, under the supervision of a Regular
Police Officer, patrols an assigned area in the prevention of crime
and the enforcement of laws and ordinances. The Reserve Police
Officer also carries out special assignments and performs related
work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS

Must have
satisfactorily completed a P.O.S.T. approved basic academy or be
enrolled (PROOF REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION.)

At time of appointment,
must possess a P.O.S.T. Basic academy certificate of completion.
This certificate is valid for 36 months from date of academy
graduation.

Minimum 21 years of age
at time of appointment. No maximum age.

Possess a valid
California Class C driver’s license.

Weight must be
proportional to height.

Hearing and color
vision must be normal.

Vision must be at least
20/100 uncorrected, corrected to 20/20 in one eye and 20/30 in the
weaker eye.

Ability to speak and
write a second language, while not required, is desirable.

United States citizen
or permanent resident alien who is eligible for and has applied
for citizenship at least one year prior to applying for this
position.
TESTING AND SELECTION
Oral interviews are held
as needed to maintain a standing list. To be eligible to compete in
the oral interview, a City application form must be filed with:

Those persons passing the oral interview will be placed on a list,
which remains valid for one year.
Prior to appointment, candidates must successfully complete all of
the following:
* Polygraph Test
* Background Investigation
* Medical Evaluation including Drug Screen
* Psychological Evaluation
A comprehensive investigation is conducted into each candidate's
background in order to evaluate the candidate's suitability for the
