Frequently Asked Questions Regarding the January 7th, 2013 Change in Contractors
QUESTION: Will there be a new phone number?
ANSWER: No, the phone number for Dial-A-Taxi dispatch services will remain the same.
QUESTION: Will the fees change?
ANSWER: No, the same fees will apply and passengers will obtain the coupons from Montebello Transit.
QUESTION: Will the new contractor be using the same taxis?
ANSWER: No. Fiesta Taxi/1-800TAXICAB will be providing service with their own fleet of vehicles. The vehicles will look like the following vehicles:
QUESTION: Will the hours remain the same?
ANSWER: Yes. Rides may be scheduled 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
QUESTION: Will they still take me to my doctor’s appointment outside the City of Montebello?
ANSWER: Yes. All of the currently approved medical destinations outside the City of Montebello will continue to be served.
QUESTION: What if I need an ADA accessible bus because it is too hard for me to get into a taxi cab?
ANSWER: Fiesta will have a few ADA accessible vans for the Montebello Dial-A-Taxi service. Please let your dispatcher know if you need an ADA accessible van for your trip. Please try to schedule these trips 24 hours in advance.
QUESTION: How do I find out more about the new service?
ANSWER: Visit Montebello Transit at 400 S. Taylor Avenue in the City of Montebello or call (323) 558-1625.
QUESTION: What are the program rules?
ANSWER: 1. Must be 62 years old or older or have a qualifying disability to be eligible for Montebello Dial-A-Taxi.
2. Service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
3. Passenger must show their Montebello Dial-A-Taxi card to driver and pay 50 cents directly to the driver
4. The transportation service is good anywhere within the City of Montebello and to approved satellite points.
5. Passengers may travel to medical locations within the service boundary of the 10 freeway to the north, the 605 freeway to the east, the 5 freeway to the south and 710 freeway to the west. In addition, Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital (12401 Washington Blvd., Whittier, CA) and Bright Medical Center (15725 Whittier Blvd., Whittier, CA) are valid satellite points.
6. Trips can be used for taxi ramp vans.

Participants must be Montebello residents 62 years old and/or disabled (any age) or Medicare card holders. Photo DAT identification card will be required prior to using the service.
You may ride DAT if you are a resident of Montebello, a senior citizen age 62 and over and/or disabled of any age. You must register to use DAT by completing the Eligibility Form, provide a photo (1” X 1 ¼”), and be certified eligible prior to using DAT. When your eligibility has been certified you will receive an ID-CARD. Your ID-CARD is free, however, there is a $5.00 fee to replace lost cards. We require that our passengers carry the ID-CARD and show it to the driver each time they board the DAT vehicle.

Dial-A-Taxi provides transportation services within the City Of Montebello. Medical trips are allowed outside City boundaries, but within the designated DAT service area. Please call first to ensure your destination is within the boundaries. The exact boundaries are:
10 Freeway (Monterey Park) to the NORTH
710 Freeway (East Los Angeles) to the WEST
605 Freeway (South El Monte) to the EAST
Slauson Ave. to the SOUTH

You can travel throughout the San Gabriel Valley on Access Services, a service operating under the provisions of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). You must be certified to use the service. For more information, call Access Services toll free at 1-800-827-0929 or 1-800-827-1359 (TDD). You can apply for eligibility for Access Services by logging on to http://www.asila.org
Payment can only be made with Dial-A-Taxi coupons. Coupon booklets(20 coupons per booklet) are $10 each and can only be purchased at the Montebello Transportation Facility. Maximum of two booklets per month.
Dial-A-Taxi service is available 24 Hours A Day, 7 days a week, including holidays.
Trip Reservations and Cancellation

Only same day appointments are available. Please call at least 30 minutes prior to your requested pick up time.
Give your name, exact pick-up address, destination location, number of passengers in your party, and ask for the appropriate wait time. Make sure that you say that you’re a Montebello Dial-A-Taxi passenger.
Please make sure at the time of scheduling your appointment to request if you need any special accommodations.
If you use a wheelchair, please advise the dispatcher that you need accessible van (may take longer up to an hour for a wheelchair accessible vehicle).
When Should I Be Ready For Appointment?
Please be ready to meet the DAT vehicle on the sidewalk to ensure the driver can identify you. Have your DAT identification card ready to present to the Dial-A-Taxi driver.
If you use a wheelchair, the driver will assist you in boarding the van safely and secure your wheelchair once you are in the van. Please make sure you have a secure lap belt that is in good condition. Wheelchairs must have secure brakes and good tires. When you are making your reservation, please specify that you will be requiring a wheelchair accessible vehicle.
Companion or Group Travel
A registered Dial-A-Taxi customer may travel with their care attendant or approved service animal (for more details see Service Animals). If you are disabled and need an attendant, he or she can ride with you at no additional cost. You must tell the Dispatcher that you will have an attendant or service animal when you make the appointment. Disabled individuals who are under 18 years old must be accompanied by a registered adult.
Dial-A-Taxi customers may travel with an animal trained to work or perform tasks for persons with disabilities as indicated on your application. Animals other than service animals may not travel on Dial-A-Taxi unless pre-approved by the Dial-A-Taxi Dispatch Department.
