Take a bite out of crimeThe Crime Prevention Bureau provides informative services to the community such as child safety courses for children and workplace violence training for local business establishments. It also coordinates the Neighborhood Watch Program and the Business Alert Program. In addition, the unit is responsible for the billing of residential and commercial alarm permits within Montebello and conducting plan checks for the Planning Department’s new developments.

The Crime Prevention Bureau also oversees the Volunteers in Policing Program. These volunteers devote much of their time to assist various bureaus at the police department, including the Police / Fire Community Center. They lend their time to provide station tours for local schools, providing emergency childcare, and data entry. In addition, volunteers help at many of the department’s community events such as Open House, Breakfast with the Chief, and the annual Holiday Basket event.
