About Chief McClure
Chief Kevin McClure was born in Montebello in 1961.  He was raised in the San Gabriel Valley and attended school in Hacienda Heights.  He received his A.A. Degree in Administration of Justice from L.A. City College and his B.S. Degree in Criminal Justice from Cal State Los Angeles.

Chief McClure joined the Los Angeles Police Department in 1980 as a Police Student Worker.  In October 1981 he joined the ranks of the LAPD and was assigned to the Police Academy.  As a Police Officer he worked Central, Wilshire and Southwest Areas.  He was assigned to Metropolitan Division for seven years prior to his promotion to Sergeant in December 1993.  As a Sergeant he worked the Southeast, Wilshire and Northeast Areas.  He was assigned to the Narcotics Division for six years prior to his promotion to Lieutenant in February 2003.  As a Lieutenant he worked Northeast Patrol, Northeast Detectives, Force Investigation Division and Consent Decree Bureau.  He was promoted to the rank of Captain in May 2006.

During Chief McClure's 30 years of service with LAPD he worked a variety of assignments including Patrol, Detectives, Narcotics, Gangs, Metropolitan K-9 Handler and Adjutant.  His last assignment with LAPD was Captain of the Robbery Homicide Division.  Chief McClure retired from LAPD in April of 2011 to begin his career as Police Chief for the City of Montebello.

Chief McClure is a lifelong resident of Southern California and currently resides in the city of LaVerne with his wife and two daughters.  He is very active in his community with his children's sports activities.  He is a past member of the California Narcotic Officer's Association and a current member of the California Police Chief's Association and Los Angeles County Police Chief's Association.
