GENERAL PLAN UPDATE
In accordance with State Law, the City is preparing a comprehensive update to its General Plan. The General Plan is made up of several elements including Community Development, Circulation & Infrastructure, Housing, Community Resources, and Community Safety & Noise. The General Plan is the guiding document for the City for the next 20 years and creates a vision for the community through the development of goals, policies, and objectives within each of its elements. In addition to being a visionary document, the General Plan serves as the legal guide to all development in the community.
Over the past five-plus years City Council meetings, committee meetings, commission meetings, and neighborhood meetings were held to develop the City’s vision to be incorporated into the City’s new General Plan. The results of these years of work will be included in the Draft General Plan, which is expected to be completed in spring, 2009, at which time it will be available for public review. At that time, the Draft General Plan will be presented to the Planning Commission and City Council at a publicly scheduled meeting.
